;D I will watch ANY show on the paranormal--but the "demons" that appear weekly on Paranormal State are ridiculous. Anyone who's ever been on a ghost investigation knows exactly how BORING they are (well, you know what I mean--hours of NOTHING going on). Even if TAPS gets a little action--what they don't show are the 18 hours of NOTHING to get that evp or anomoly. As far as the shall we say "less reputable" shows (these are pretty much any other than "Ghost Hunters" (THE ORIGINAL)--it's show business. And, to be fair, I think NO ONE would watch a real ghost investigation with several hours of nothing--plus, they have to appeal to the general public as well (not necessarily just paranormal investigators). I understand all that--but DEMONS EVERY WEEK? COME ON!!! I cannot believe some religious fanatics are protesting the show in droves!!! It's completely ridiculous. The good news is--more people get interested in the paranormal. The bad news is--they are horribly misinformed about the paranormal. *sigh* Honest, logical ghost groups, such as CAIPRS, need to keep educating the public! Melissa

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm new here so, anyway....this hit a nerve with me.
Erino- We've been researching the paranormal for a long, long time, but just recently decided to put a "formal" group together. I've encountered a lot of the same things you have and I'm probably quite a bit older than you. Some people or groups are very territorial and wary of your intentions. Know what? You don't need their blessing. Be polite, ask questions and take away from it what you can. Beyond that....if knocking on the door nicely doesn't work, then kick it down. Nobody's first investigations are going to be at the Myrtles Planatation and while some groups laugh at cemetary investigations and abandoned houses as being soooo mundane, we all basically start there at some point (and still do!) It's not wasted time - learn your equipment, polish your investigating technique. If you have a team, build trust in each other. These are things you can do outside public scrutiny until you get established. Access to places is everyone's biggest obstacle. You already seem like you have a good perspective on what you wish to accomplish. We met Derek by sheer chance and then ended up here talking with some very cool, unpretentious people. We're going to pick their brains until the restraining order comes....lol.
lostsoul- Wonderful comments. Nothing more to say.
Take care.

I haven't been able to log on for a month so I apologize for not responding sooner...but I wanted to thank riseup for the comment! As for the restraining order on the brain picking...hmm, I think that you would find that you would run out of things to ask long before any of us would ask you to stop!
