This post isn't for everyone - just the sexy people. As part of a whole new direction we're taking, everyone at RISEUP is required to submit an article on the paranormal. Naturally I got hit with "where's yours?" Fine. Here's an article posted on our site that I would greatly appreciate you giving a read. I value your opinions and I hope it stirs some conversation. If you enjoy it, let me know. If you don't, just smile and say something nice. Just kidding...you don't have to smile. www.riseupparanormal.com/hauntings/paranormal_planet.htm

A round of applause x2. Very good article riseup. I had no idea levitation had a mathematical equation. That is WAY over my head. Did you write the first part of the article around the coffee icons? Lol This is a great representation of your group and a good article for anyone experiencing activity to read first. I would feel very comfortable contacting you guys. I also loved the side comments and random tidbits of information along the way. You did a great job explaining how to explain the unexplainable.
Can we read the other members articles somewhere?

First off Park I sincerely say thank you for taking the time to read it. I'm very humbled by your kind words and really stoked because you enjoyed it. This will actually be one topic of the lectures that we plan to do in the near future as we take the group in a new direction. I'm happy the main points I try to make get through, especially what our mind-set is concerning all this, and hey...without a little humor, or a wise-ass comment, we wouldn't be us.
My esteemed colleagues are sweating out the last details on their articles and we'll be sure to pass them along as they are finished. I'll tell them you are waiting. Mwwah.

That was an articulate and well-reasoned paper. I especially like the fact that skeptics, short of a personal encounter, will refuse to listen to any evidence. That is not unlike some allopathic (traditional) medical doctors refusing to believe that acupuncture is effective for treating different maladies. Never mind the clear proofs (I mean how many cases of the placebo effect can there actually be) presented, because science DOESN'T YET HAVE A WAY TO QUANTIFY THE PROCESS, its debunked. That kind of arrogance is astounding. Not unlike the skeptics view of the paranormal. Just cause science isn't there (yet) to quantify, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Regardless, great paper.

Thank you berry, I'm glad you enjoyed it and even happier it elicited a response from you. I would feel the same even if you told me I was all wet...lol. I also share some of your opinions on scientific arrogance in relation to the paranormal. I can't tell you if ghosts are real yet or not, whether in the physical or the psychological realms and therein lies the challenge and the fascination with the subject. People ARE seeing SOMETHING. Seemingly, more skeptics tend to focus attention on the reports of physical appearances of spirits and less on the possible psychological explanations. This is like shooting fish in a barrel and nothing to be particularly proud of. It's easier this way to label someone a wacko than give some credence to them because hey, they just aren't as smart or academically enlightened as the skeptic is and also proves their argument easier to focus on the rare and extreme. Granted, misidentification is quite common and one of the things we seek to discover in the investigative process, but to dismiss a claimant's experience as derisively as some do is ignoring the human condition as well. After spending all that money on a college degree, how would YOU feel if something square outside of the round hole of natural order was taking place? Pretty ineffective, I'd wager. And if a "commoner" bested you in the effort to prove its existence? God, take me now, please.
I have a son who played college football and one of my favorite away games was the trip to the MIT campus. A gorgeous setting on the banks of the Charles River and we loved to just walk around and imagine the things taking place inside its walls. I saw the many faces of people that were undoubtably extraordinarily brilliant who had trouble parking their freaking Honda Civics. May I label them as stupid or misguided because they lack the capacity to combine quantum mechanics, visual stimuli and spatial relations?
At least we were smart enough to take the "T".

I tried accessing the link and it said that the website could not be found. I feel so left out ------ where else can I find the article? From the kudos you've received, I am getting curiouser and curiouser.

The URL changed a tad due to brainiac modifications to the website by "those who shall not be named". Anyway...poke around a little if you want, we're getting more stuff up there including a little ditty we call "Paranormal World" Who punched a cat? What did I miss? riseupparanormal.com/articles_files/paranormal_planet_doc.htm

Hmmm...perhaps you should switch to decaf? (bada-boom)
Or maybe you take your coffee on the light side? (bada-boom)
Wish I would have known that ahead of time. That story would have added a lot to the article. Fact always trumps fiction every day. Tell me about that one sometime.

Actually, it wasn't a coffee cup that levitated, but it was an ashtry that levitated off a mantle and slowly went down and settled on the stove. Yup, it did happen.
